PROFILE

KAORUKO turned into a contemporary artist at the end of the 1980s after a career as a Japanese idol singer "Kaoruko Arai." She has lived in New York since 2007. A US art
magazine, "New American Paintings" No. 98 (February 2012 issue), introduced her as "one of the notable artists active in the United States (one of 40 selected from 1,200
candidates)." She has drawn inspiration from a new form of positive feminism that projects a woman living in the present age by using her experience as an idol. The concept is an expression that reflects Japanese culture by combining the kimono patterns from the Meiji and Taisho eras. The composition method of the original technique, the object
of the work, and the concept have a unique presence in the fine art world in New York that has left a substantial impact on many collectors.
