Born in 1952 in Tochigi prefecture, he moved to Okinawa 41 years ago and started making lacquered bridges in 2007 as a lacquerware trainee at the Okinawa Prefectural
Craft Technology Support Center. In 2008, his original design of Ryukyu chopsticks was adopted as an Official Prefectural Gift for the G8 Environmental Science and Technology
Ministers' Meeting. He currently runs a workshop in Ogimi Village, where he makes lacquered chopsticks and holds "Ryukyu chopsticks" making classes. The chopsticks are
made from Okinawan wood, such as pruned from Shikuwasa trees and used for food education.
